One of South Korea's prestigious award-giving ceremonies released its schedule for the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Baeksang Arts Awards 2021 recognizes the excellence and contribution of the brightest and talented celebrities, directors, and screenwriters in the industry of film, tv, and theater.

57th Baeksang Arts Awards Scheduled on May 13

A new report announced that this year's ceremony is slated for May 13 and will be broadcast live at JTBC.

Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic, the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards is set to take place without an audience or spectators to abide by the COVID-19 health protocols.

Baeksang Arts Awards 2021 Nominees to Announce on April 12

As for the list of nominees, the award-giving body might release the names of the candidates for each movie, TV, and theater category on April 12, through their official website.

Following the release of the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards schedule, fans can't help but express their support towards their chosen actors.

Viewers are rooting celebrities such as Kim Soo Hyun from "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" and "Mr. Queen" actress Shin Hye-sun with their powerful performance in their respective dramas.

On the other hand, some fans predict that the recently concluded SBS hit drama "Penthouse 2" will receive major categories.

56th Baeksang Arts Awards Highlights

2021 Baeksang Arts Awards will be the second year that the said event will be held under a socially distant ceremony.

To recall, last year's ceremony was pushed back to June instead of early 2020 due to the global pandemic; however, the show must go on, and it continued without the presence of an audience.

As for the participants, the actors and actresses were arranged in socially distanced seats at least one meter apart.

During the prestigious event, the Kang Ha-neul was named as the biggest winner of the night for bagging the Leading Actor in TV award for his role as local police officer Hwang Yong-Sik in "When the Camellia Blooms."

This was the first time that the 31-year-old actor scored a Baeksang Arts Awards.

Aside from the "Midnight Runners" star, the romantic drama scored two more wins, including Oh Jung-Se for Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, and Daesang or Grand Prize for Best Drama.

Joining "When the Camellia Blooms" are other popular dramas "Crash Landing On You," "The World of the Married," and "Itaewon Class," who also bagged major categories.

The popular tvN drama was nominated under seven categories but took home the Best Supporting Actress in TV, while webtoon based JTBC drama received six nominations and managed to take home the New Actress in TV.

As for "The World of the Married," the suspense drama won two awards, including Kim Hee-ae as Best Leading Actress in TV and Mo Wan-il for Best Director.
