The second season for the smash-hit K-drama "Taxi Driver," starring Lee Je Hoon, Esom, Pyo Ye Jin, Kim Eui Sung, and more, is officially in the works! 

After creating a massive buzz online and consistently topping the viewership rating chart, the SBS drama is getting a green light for a brand new season. 

Taxi Driver Season 2 Confirmed

According to a news outlet, the company that produced the first season, Studio S, revealed that they would be making a sequel for the crime-thriller drama. 

For now, the forthcoming season is still in the early stages of planning, adding that the production date has yet to be decided. 

Meanwhile, a new report states that SBS is currently discussing and reviewing the production of season 2 - and this includes adjusting the timing and schedule.

Taxi Driver Season 2 Release Date

Amid the exciting news, the production team shared that they aim to release Taxi Driver Season 2 sometime next year. 

Moreover, it is also expected that some of the lead characters will reprise their roles. 

It is worth noting that the South Korean actor Lee Je Hoon will return as the former special forces member and Rainbow Taxi's resident driver Kim Do Ki, alongside the feisty Prosecutor Kang Ha Na, played by Esom, who surprisingly joined the group as seen on Taxi Driver finale. 

Lee Je Hoon and Kim Eui Sung Share Thoughts on the Possibility of Taxi Driver Season 2

To recall Lee Je Hoon and Kim Eui Sung expressed their desire to return for Taxi Driver Season 2.

During his previous interview with SportTV News, the 37-year-old actor revealed his thoughts about returning as Kim Do Ki. 

Moreover, he is looking forward to returning for a brand new season together with his co-actors and the production team. 

"I want to be with Kim Do-gi more than I think I have to let go of the character. I want to get back together with the actors and production team as soon as possible."

The same goes for Kim Eui Sung, who also expressed his hopes for the possibility of a sequel. 

"If 'Taxi Driver' continues to become a franchise, I think we should at least do the bridge between the first and second seasons," he explained. 

The veteran actor, who plays the Blue Bird foundation director and Rainbow Taxi CEO Jang Sung Chul, also pointed out how the whole team had a great working relationship and would definitely feel ecstatic if they would return for season 2. 

Moreover, Kim Eui Sung also lauded Lee Je Hoon and Esom for their breathtaking portrayal of Kim Do Ki and Kang Ha Na.

The 55-year-old actor says that no other star would perfectly play the role of Do Ki like Lee Je Hoon. 

"Taxi Driver" has been getting a lot of positive responses from the public, given that the K-drama tackles social issues like bullying, harassment, fraud, and more. 

It is safe to say that the upcoming season would also get the same treatment or even surpass the achievement of season 1.
