'Heirs,' A Fantasy World Made By Materialism

Stories of Cinderella and Prince Charming have been incessantly used in dramas. "Heirs" is one of those stories, but it is somehow different.

It is different from other Cinderella stories because it is based on the top 1% of Korean society. The heirs, who inherit the wealth and fame of their parents' conglomerate companies, struggle with the strict rules of the conglomerate families, and the parents' desire to want more. These heirs, particularly Kim Tan and Choi Young Do, since they're not happy with what they have although they have everything, go and find a Cinderella, who is a mature but poor girl, Cha Eun Sang.

Stories of Cinderella and her Prince Charming have been continuously changing and evolving, but they have always been considered as the stories in the fantasy. However, the fantasy aside, the socioeconomic issues of Korea that "Heirs" ignores in the drama is too great to be considered as "just another drama."
