The "Melancholia" stars share what to expect in the drama, as well as reveal the reason why they chose the drama ahead of its huge premiere.

tvN's forthcoming Wednesday and Thursday drama "Melancholia," which is set in a private school that is the mecca of corruption and scandals, follows the story of a passionate Mathematics teacher Ji Yoon Soo (Im Soo Jung) who encourages her students to continue living their dreams, and a former Mathematics prodigy Baek Seung Yoo (Lee Do Hyun) who stopped loving Mathematics after an incident. Together, the two fight and overcome social struggles and prejudices.
Im Soo Jung, who was last seen in "Search: WWW," fell in love instantly after reading the script. According to her, the title itself made her feel different emotions.
She added, "Yoon Soo and Seung Yoo could relate to each other through Mathematics, and it is so beautiful. More than anything, I think my brain suddenly had an electric current flowing through my heart. It lured me to make me want to participate in it. 'Melancholia' is a project I am destined to do."

Meanwhile, Lee Do Hyun thought of the title differently, saying, "The word "melancholia" is not a word you can easily see anywhere. I think it is interesting so I read the script, and the lines and stories gave me warmth. Because of that, I told my agency I wanted to do it [the drama]."
Attention is focused on what kind of synergy the two will show as teacher and student who inspire each other.

As the drama's premiere is soon approaching, "Melancholia" stars Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun encourage fans and viewers to anticipate the drama.
Im Soo Jung said, "The theme of Mathematics may intimidate you but the drama is not difficult to watch. "Melancholia" will surely be able to go through the viewers' hearts emotionally. It's a drama that will make anyone's heart flutter because of pure love."
Lee Do Hyun added, "Our drama begins on November 10 and it will end exactly at the very end of the year. I hope "Melancholia" will warm the hearts of the viewers so we can say goodbye to 2021 well."

When asked about how people would approach the drama, he said, "People may think Mathematics in a drama will be difficult but it's not like that at all. There's no need to study Mathematics symbols and equations and formulas. Everyone can enjoy the drama, just focus on the communication between Yoon Soo and Seung Yoo."
On the other hand, tvN's "Melancholia" is scheduled to air for the first time on Wednesday, November 10 at 10:30 p.m. KST on tvN. It will also be available on Viki and Viu.
