“The Voice” Judge, Adam Levine Faces Backlash as People’s Sexiest Man Alive(Photo/ Video)

The People Magazine’s choice for its 2013 Sexiest Man Alive, Adam Levine has created quite a stir in the world wide web. Not too many are happy that he nabbed the coveted title and some raised questions as to how he got the vote.

Is the Maroon 5 singer really not the kind of guy meant to be People magazine’s sexiest man alive?

The title has been earned by actors including Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Brad Pitt. The same high-profile title has been given recently to Bradley Cooper and Channing Tatum.

The choice made by People in its latest issue has created a buzz not like any other in the past years. It looks like not everyone is happy that “The Voice” judge is declared the sexiest man alive.

The New York Daily News (NYDN) has enumerated reactions of the public.

When “The Voice” host, Carson Daly announced the news on the NBC show, Tuesday night, the first reaction to People’s choice came from the show’s coach, Blake Shelton.

"I want you to know that I think you're beautiful for what's on the inside,” Shelton was quoted as saying by the NYDN.

Some critics have raised questions as to the kind of people voting for any man or celebrity to earn the title.

"Who votes in these surveys? Blind people?,” NYDN noted a reader, “NorthStar.”

Another commenter, “JoJo10,”said that Levine is "obsessed with Victoria's Secret Angels and secretly wants to be one."

Levine is currently engaged to model, Behati Prinsloo, a Victoria’s Secret model. But before his engagement to Prinsloo, the singer was linked to another model, Nina Agdal and Russian model, Anne Vyalitsyna.

The NYDN went on and noted a critic, Robin Long’s reaction who said, "if scrawny body, giraffe-necked, 2-day stubble guys with hair growth creeping down their necks are 'in,' then yes, I can see why People chose this guy."

When asked how he feels about the new title, Levine said, “he feels sexy.”
