‘Bulgasal: Immortal Souls’ Episode 16: Did Lee Jin Wook Break the Curse? + Show Wraps Up with Major Increase in Viewership Rating
Lee Jin Wook and Kwon Nara's Kdrama "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" episode 16 left the fans in awe with surprising revelations regarding their past.
In addition, the viewership rating for the finale episode hit its third-highest rating since its debut.
'Bulgasal: Immortal Souls' Finale Viewership Rating
According to Nielsen Korea, the thriller fantasy Kdrama garnered an average nationwide rating of 5.1 percent, which is a significant increase from its previous rating.
To recall, "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" highest viewership recorded was during their premiere, gaining 6.34 percent in nationwide rating while 7.39 in metropolitan areas.
'Bulgasal: Immortal Souls' Episode 16 Recap: Where it all Started
The finale episode starts with Dan Hwal and Min Sang Un being the only two bulgasal and living a happy life in the heart of the mountains.
Things changed when she saved a toddler and a baby from danger.
Unfortunately, being a bulgasal, she can't keep them with her and chose an old lady, who was Lee Hye Suk, in her present life.

For the second time, she saved the kids from a monster. They thanked her for it, but she became more infatuated with the kids as if they were her children.
Due to this, she left Dan Hwal in the mountains and lived with the kids and the old lady.
Years have passed, they became a family. The young girl grew up as a beautiful lady. She was Min Sang Un in the present time.
On the other hand, her brother grew up as a brave teenager and is Nam Do Yoon in the present.
Unfortunately, things went south when they came across Ok Eul Tae.
Min Shi Ho and Nam Do Yoon witnessed Ok Eul Tae murdering his brother. To hide this, he attempted to kill the two, but luckily, Min Sang Un came in the nick of time.
Ok Eul Tae witnessed how Sang Un transformed as if a monster possessed her. However, he uses this and tells his father, the general, and detective Kwon Ho Yeol in the present time, that a bulgasal who lives in the woods killed his brother.
The furious general immediately heads to the mountain looking for the bulgasal. He stabbed her with a sword, but Min Sang Un promised Min Shi Ho that she would not harm any human.
Surprisingly, Dan Hwal appeared and killed all humans who harmed Sang Un and cursed the general, Shi Ho and Do Yoon.
Dan Hwal Ends the Curse
"Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" episode 16 also continued their plan to end things with Ok Eul Tae.
In the present time, Min Sang Un, Dan Hwal and Kwon Ho Yeol tracked Ok Eul Tae to put him in the well forever, but it left an unfortunate fate on the detective after he was killed with the bulgasal.
After an intense battle with Hwal and his fellow bulgasal, he finally killed Ok Eul Tae; however, to protect and for the other to live a normal life, Dan Hwal sacrificed himself.
He tells Min Sang Un that to end the curse and so Shi Ho could deliver her baby and Do Yoon not to be reincarnated as blind; he has to kill himself.
Min Sang Un promised to find Dan Hwal in their next life, whatever it takes.
After several years, Min Shi Ho had her own family; the same goes for Nam Do Yoon, but Shi Ho refused to leave their house, hoping that Dan Hwal and Sang Un would return.
At the hospital, she got a call noting that they had found Sang Un and Dan Hwal.
"Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" episode 16 ended on a happy note as the two got reunited despite not remembering their past.
