Ha Ji Won To Lead 'A Tree Dies Standing' Alongside Kang Ha Neul
On April 25, KBS officially announced Ha Ji Won will make her long-awaited drama comeback this year with the series "A Tree Dies Standing" (working title). It is her first lead series following "Chocolate" in 2020. She is expected to work for the first time with Kang Ha Neul.

"A Tree Dies Standing" will be helmed by director Yoon Sang Ho and Jo Sung Chul is in charge of the script. It follows the story of a man who plays a noble grandson to fulfill his grandmother's last wish and a woman who falls in love with that man.

Now that she accepted the offer, Ha Ji Won takes the role of Park Se Yeon, the youngest daughter, and general manager of Hotel Paradise. She leads the hotel's whole department and is a well-experienced manager who knows everything about the company.
Apart from her commendable leadership, Se Yeon is also a politically-savvy working-class and loved by her executives and employees.
But her life will become much more exciting after meeting certain three men.
What To Know More About 'A Tree Dies Standing'
Meanwhile, Kang Ha Neul plays the role of Yoo Jae Heon, an actor in a local theater group. He came from a poor background, yet he has a bright and optimistic personality and has high self-esteem.
On a not-so-ordinary day, an old gentleman asks him to play the grandson of an old woman, which changes Yoo Jae Heon's life.
Award-winning actress Youn Yuh Jung is also expected to appear in the series. Recently, the role of Park Se Yeon was first offered to Son Ye Jin but she reportedly stepped down.
Furthermore, once the casting has been finalized, filming production will begin immediately with a potential schedule to premiere this 2022.
Meanwhile, before "A Tree Dies Standing," Kang Ha Neul has an upcoming mystery series "Insider." It is confirmed to meet the viewers this coming June. The "When the Camellia Blooms" lead star will have a drastic character transformation.
It marks his next drama following his special participation in "River Where the Moon Rises" in 2021.
