‘Today’s Webtoon’ 5-6: Kim Sejeong Experiences First Failure As A Producer

'Today's Webtoon' Episode 5: On Ma Eum's Secret Gets Revealed
In episode 5 of "Today's Webtoon," On Ma Eum (Kim Sejeong) takes on rookie webtoon artists to hone before their debut.

She particularly gets invested in Sin Dae Ryug (Kim Do Hoon), a great artist but poor drawing skills. He wasn't able to win the competition in which the lucky artists will get to debut under Neon Webtoon.
Because On Ma Eum doesn't want to give up on him, Baek Eo Jin (Kim Kap Soo) offers to take him in as his assistance, and help him improve his drawing and art styles.
Meanwhile, On Ma Eum works with Goo Seul Ah (Jeon Hye Yeon), an extremely shy artist with a beautiful drawing style. Goo Joon Young (Nam Yoon Su) refuses to take any artist with him as he's not confident to work with a rookie just yet.

Furthermore, he once again meets up with Heo Kwan Young (Ha Do Kwon) who's eager to make a deal with him in taking the webtoon servicing team down.
Goo Joon Young is torn as he's slowly taking interest in his current job. He pretends to accept his offer, letting his future self worry about it.
After three months of working with On Ma Eum, Goo Seul Ah is still working on her storyboard while other artists who joined at the same time as her are getting ready for her debut.

Because of this, Goo Seul Ah takes a risk and decides to work with producer Kwon Young Bae (Yang Hyun Min) when he gives her the chance to take on the webtoon that is based on a novel.
Goo Seul Ah is On Ma Eum's first rookie artist and first heartbreak. Seok Ji Hyung (Choi Daniel), who's more experienced in the field, comforts her, telling her that a lot of heartbreaks will happen as she stays in the webtoon industry.

On the other hand, socially awkward Sin Dae Ryug works as Baek Eo Jin's assistant and hopes to debut at the end of the year.

At the end of the episode, On Ma Eum reveals to her father that she's already working in a company even if it breaks his heart.
Her father then confronts her about Judo, but On Ma Eum tells him that playing at the Olympics is his dream. She bravely admits that she dreams of doing a great job in her current job instead of coming back to training centers.
On Ma Eum tells him that her dreams have changed and she just wants to do the things that make her happy, even if it means she "failed" as a daughter and an athlete.
'Today's Webtoon' Episode 6: On Ma Eum Engages In An Altercation With A Senior Producer
In episode 6 of "Today's Webtoon," On Ma Eum meets up with Goo Seul Ah for a lovely dinner.

The rookie artist asks for her forgiveness after ditching her for a more experienced producer. She also thanks On Ma Eum for the support.
However, Goo Seul Ah suddenly gets a call from Kwon Young Bae who's asking her to change a lot of things despite the nearing deadline, leading to a panic attack and fatigue.
On Ma Eum then takes her to the hospital. At work, she angrily confronts Kwon Young Bae for his harsh treatment towards the artists.

Unfortunately, no one from the company took her side. She realizes that she has crossed her boundaries while talking with a senior producer.
Goo Joon Young analyzed the team's data and in spite of his infamous behavior, Kwon Young Bae brings the most revenue to the team, denoting the effectiveness of his strategy.

In episode 6, it's also revealed that Kwon Young Bae was once as passionate as On Ma Eum, but he drastically changed after Gingertoon closed and his wife divorced him.
Since then, he stopped being enthusiastic and focused on how to bring money to the company. Meanwhile, On Ma Eum tries to do the same and contacts Sin Dae Ryug, asking for progress.

At Baek Eo Jin's house, Im Dong Hee (Baek Seok Kwang) isn't amused with Sin Dae Ryug's rude behavior.
As an assistant for almost a decade, Im Dong Hee often looks down on himself which puts the latter off. According to him, words are powerful and whatever is uttered will come true.
At the end of the episode, Goo Joon Young's heart beats a little faster due to his proximity with On Ma Eum, hinting at a budding romance.
