"Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist" starring Kim Min Jae, Kim Hyang Gi, and Kim Sang Kyung delivered intense moments and surprising news as it aired its season finale. 

The webtoon based historical K-drama follows the story of a young physician who gets caught up in a conspiracy following the King's death. 

He continued working as a physician in a small town called Sorak along with his mentor who used to work at the palace's medical office. 

However, due to an unexpected situation, Yoo Se Poong (Kim Min Jae) managed to uncover the truth with the help of Lady Seo Eun Woo (Kim Hyang Gi) and Physician Kye Ji Han (Kim Sang Kyung).

Despite failing to beat its personal best in viewership rating, Kim Min Jae's drama gets the green light for a new sequel. 

According to Nielsen Korea, "Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist' episode 12 scored an average nationwide rating of 5.1 percent, almost close to its all-time high viewership of 5.2 percent. 

Interestingly, at the end of the finale episode, "Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist" Season 2 is confirmed to premiere in January 2023, leaving viewers with an open-ended finale.

The last episode starts with the scene between Yoo Se Poong and Commander Im Soo Man who was caught red-handed in his field of opium.

Just when he thought that he could pursue Poong to give him another chance, an assassin targets the commander leaving him dead in his beloved poppy fields.

As Poong and Lady Seo continue with their plan to expose the second state counselor, Physician Kye Ji Han was able to obtain the commander's ledger which contains evidence citing that the second state counselor Jo Tae Hak was the one behind the King's death.

At the palace, he revealed the information to the King and set out an entrapment to arrest the second state counselor and his accomplice, the royal physician. 

Amid the process of finding out the truth behind the King's death, his son, the new King is having problems with his health and asks Yoo Se Poong to treat him since the royal physician is under investigation. 

Thankfully, the young King's health is slightly getting better, and the palace continues with the investigation.

In one scene, the King presented Yoo Se Poong as the head acupuncturist and presented evidence regarding the case. 

He brought out the ledger from the late commander, containing how he, the royal physician, the second state counselor, did the plan.

In addition, royal inspector Jo Shin Woo exposed his adoptive father and presented the courtmaid in the royal kitchen. 

Wol, who happens to be alive, revealed that the royal physician told him to use the poisonous dansacho plant on the King which caused him immediate death. It was all because of the second state counselor's plan to kill the royal. 

However, instead of getting arrested, Jo Tae Hak committed suicide by ingesting the poisonous plant.

After shedding the light between the King's death as well as the tragic death of Poong's father, he was offered by the young King to be the new royal physician. 

Although he loved his family at Gyesoo Clinic, he wanted to fulfill his father's dream to be part of the royal's physician. 

However, in the last scene, Poong returned to Gyesoo clinic but was followed by the King's men telling him to obey the royal's command.
