‘Once Upon a Small Town’ Episode 4: Red Velvet’s Joy Feels Tension Between Choo Young Woo, Baek Sung Chul
"Once Upon a Small Town" episode 4 featured how Choo Young Woo is slowly warming up toward Red Velvet's Joy. However, the episode also showcased a bombshell revelation of Baek Sung Chul.
'Once Upon a Small Town' Drama Cast
Helmed by Kwon Seok Jang of "Bossam: Steal the Fate," Once Upon a Small Town is the newest rom-com series airing every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday via Kakao TV and Netflix.
Choo Young Woo took on the role of city boy veterinarian Han Ji Yul who is temporarily working in his grandfather's clinic in the small town of Heedong.
There, he meets local police officer Ahn Jae Young, played by Red Velvet's Joy who harbors a bubbly and charming personality.
She is a longtime friend of Lee Sang Hyun, portrayed by Baek Sung Chul, whose family runs a peach farm.
'Once Upon a Small Town' Episode 4 Recap: Ahn Jae Young Adopts the Rescue Dog
The latest episode began with Han Ji Yul concerned about Ahn Jae Young carrying the stray dog whom they rescued from a chicken breeder.
The dashing vet thinks that Ahn Jae Young doesn't know how to treat these types of animals; however, to his surprise, the dog seemed to be having fun with her new owner.
While showing off the dog's new tricks, Officer Ahn asked Han Ji Yul if she could adopt the dog.
Initially, the vet looks like he is adamant to give the stray dog to Office Ahn but she promised to take good care of her well.
In one scene, a flashback featured Ahn Jae Young's first pet which she named cloud and was given by Han Ji Yul.
Meanwhile, in the present day, Officer Ahn spoiled her dog by creating her own space. The next day, the female police barged into the clinic saying that the dog has gone missing. They searched the whole village, but it seemed like the dog was nowhere to be found.
Thankfully, Han Ji Yul saw the dog running toward the woods. The duo followed her and saw that she had been visiting her new puppies.
In the next scene, the vet receives a call from one of the locals saying that her cow is having trouble giving birth.
Thankfully, the female officer volunteered to get his glasses at his grandfather's house while he started with the procedure.

Since there are no available pulleys to help a cow to push its calf out, Han Ji Yul decides to do it himself.
Seeing that he can't do it alone, the officer, who came just in the nick of time along with the vet's glasses, was able to help the cow give birth.
To celebrate this, the president of the women's association, who is also the cow's owner, asked Han Ji Yul and Ahn Jae Young to join them.
During the gathering, Han Ji Yul is having a hard time approaching the neighbors despite their warm welcome.
At the gathering, the host offered him food and drink, which he declined.
Here, Lee Sang Hyun is teasing the Seoul-based doctor that he couldn't do such things. At this point, Officer Ahn is sensing that Han Ji Yul is uncomfortable around her best friend, Lee Sang Hyun, and vice versa.
As Han Ji Yul left the gathering with Ahn Jae Young, Lee Sang Hyun interrupted the moment by teasing Han Ji Yul.
In "Once Upon a Small Town" episode 4, Lee Sang Hyun revealed that he liked Ahn Jae Young, making sure that Han Ji Yul heard it.
