In a report, an official from the broadcast network revealed that the third season is in the planning stage, announcing production and casting updates for the upcoming series.
Han Seok Kyu will reprise his role as the genius surgeon of Doldam Hospital Dr. Boo Yong Joo a.k.a Teacher Kim with Lee Sung Kyung and Ahn Hyo Seop returning as Cha Eun Jae and Seo Woo Jin, respectively.
In addition, scriptwriters Kang Eun Kyung and Lim Hye Min will be working on with "Dr. Romantic 3" while director Yoo In Suk will be continuing with the series.
In the same report, the production team hints at what to expect in the third sequel.
With the overwhelming response and demand of viewers for another season, the whole team promised to do their best "to prepare so that we can repay those who still remember and await [the return of] 'Dr. Romantic.'"

Following the surprising announcement, "Dr. Romantic 3" is set to premiere sometime in 2023.
