Following Kang Tae Oh's departure from the entertainment industry to serve in the army, another talented actor is about to enlist this year.

In the first half of 2022, multiple media outlets already named the stars who might enter the army and one of them is Nam Joo Hyuk.

Based on Newsis on October 17, Nam Joo Hyuk's agency Management Soop released a statement updating the actor's status.

According to them, the model-actor will officially begin his military service this December. However, the exact date of his departure is yet to be announced.

Nam Joo Hyuk To Lead Two Projects Before He Enters Military

Meanwhile, before he exits from the entertainment industry for a while, the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" lead actor will meet the viewers in theaters this coming October 26. Nam Joo Hyuk is about to make his silver screen comeback after two years with the healing movie "Remember."

The film follows the story of Pil Joo (Lee Sung Min), an Alzheimer's patient in his early 80s, who lost his family during the Japanese colonial era. He devotes his remaining time to revenge before his memories vanish.

However, he meets a young man in his mid-20s, In Kyu (Nam Joo Hyuk), who will help him and change his life.

Nam Joo Hyuk Transforms Into Police Student in Disney+'s 'Vigilante'

Apart from the film, Joo Hyuk is also returning to the small screen with a new drama. He is confirmed to play the male protagonist of the Disney+ drama "Vigilante." The "Start-Up" actor takes the role of Kim Ji Yong, a police university student who turns into a vigilante over the weekend to hunt for criminals and put them behind bars.

The thriller K-series originated from the popular webtoon of the same name. Lee Joon Hyuk officially joined Nam Joo Hyuk as the main cast member of the series. He will portray the character of Cho Kang Ok, the vice chairman of DK Group and the culprit behind the "Vigilante."

The production was spotted filming the series in early August. Once the team wrapped up the series, they plan to release the drama in the first half of 2023.

'Twenty Five, Twenty One' Bags Nomination at 2022 AACA

On the other hand, Joo Hyuk's previous drama "Twenty Five, Twenty One" received a nomination at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards. They entered the list for the Best Drama Series category.
