Joo Hyun Young, who gained recognition for her supporting role in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," talked about her past, her dream of becoming an idol and the hardships that came with it. She also hinted at her upcoming film and what to expect from her as an actress.

Joo Hyun Young Dishes Audition Experience As Aspiring Idol

Before becoming a television personality, "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" actress Joo Hyun Young dreamed of being a top notch idol in the Hallyu scene.

In her recent guest appearance on KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung Soo's Radio Show," the actress dished out her audition experiences when she was younger.

Joo Hyun Young auditioned to become an idol trainee for JYP Entertainment during the height of Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation and KARA's popularity.

"There was an open audition that time and I went there [JYP Entertainment] with enthusiasm," Joo Hyun Young recalled. "I honestly thought I was talented but I still failed."

The actress laughed it off and stated that it was a great experience for her, a stepping stone for her prosperous career now.

When Park Myung Soo asked why she failed, Joo Hyun Young answered, "I think I failed because I was quite lacking back then. I didn't have much apart from my confidence."

Although she failed to become an idol, Joo Hyun Young is in a happy state at the moment. She considers her failure as a blessing in disguise because had it not happened, she wouldn't be able to make her television debut as a comedian and an actress.

Joo Hyun Young To Make Silver Screen Debut

Following the success of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," Joo Hyun Young found herself opening many doors of opportunities.

She was cast in the forthcoming film "2 O'Clock Date," which follows the story of a man and a woman who meet at 2:00 a.m. to spend time together while everyone else is asleep.

The film marks Joo Hyun Young's major debut in the silver screen along with veteran stars Yoona, Ahn Bo Hyun, Sung Dong Il and more.

In the film, she stars as the supportive cousin of Yoona. Despite having a minor role, Joo Hyun Young is quite happy about how her acting career has grown.

"2 O'Clock Date" is expected to hit the theaters nationwide in the first half of 2023. Even more so, Joo Hyun Young returns to the small screen as she joins the main ensemble of the forthcoming drama "Call My Agent!."

It depicts the stories of celebrity managers whose lives get complicated due to their demanding work lives. It also stars Lee Seo Jin, Kwak Sun Young, Seo Hyun Woo and more.

Catch "Call My Agent" on November 7 at 10:30 p.m. KST on tvN! It is also available on Netflix for worldwide audiences!
