Kim Yoo Jung is about to expand her career as she is confirmed to make her grand stage play debut with "Shakespeare in Love."

Kim Yoo Jung To Debut as Theater Actress in 'Shakespeare in Love'

After she made an enchanting performance in the Netflix movie "20th Century Girl," Kim Yoo Jung is booked for another project that will surely captivate the audience. On November 8, the actress' agency announced on multiple media outlets that Kim Yoo Jung is confirmed to lead the forthcoming theatrical play "Shakespeare in Love."

She takes the role of Viola, the daughter of a nobleman in the said story.

The stage play is said to open to the public in the early months of 2023. Kim Yoo Jung is making another leap in her career as "Shakespeare in Love" will be her first-ever stage play since she entered acting.

Since it will be her stage play debut, many are already looking forward to her performance as it is more challenging to perform in a one-act play live rather than on screen.

Apart from the much-awaited stage play, Kim Yoo Jung is also gearing up for her drama comeback with "Sweet and Spicy Chicken," also known as "Dakgangjeong." The series is expected to meet the viewers sometime in 2023.

In addition, apart from the "Love in the Moonlight" star, "Our Beloved Summer" actor Kim Sung Chul, who is already a veteran in performing in various stage and musical plays will join Kim Yoo Jung and portrays her counterpart in the play.

What We Know So Far About 'Shakespeare in Love'

"Shakespeare in Love," which is scheduled to premiere in Korea in 2023 is based on a 1998 film of the same name. Starting from the wild imagination that "Romeo and Juliet" were inspired from the romance of the legendary writer Shakespeare, a love story was born.

Moreover, the play, which was originally set in London in 1593, tells the promising masterpiece of the young man, William Shakespeare, who met and fell in love with Viola, the beautiful daughter of a nobleman who came to an audition for a theater play.

Interestingly, K-drama stars Jung So Min, Chae Soo Bin, Jung Moon Sung, and Lee Sang Eun are also part of the play's lineup.
