'Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area' Part 1 Highlight

Although the Yoo Ji Tae and Park Hae Soo starred series is based on the popular Netflix crime series "La Casa de Papel" created by Alex Pina, "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area" delivers a unique feel from the original series.

In the remake, the Professor, played by Yoo Ji Tae, noticed the economic impact of unification by widening the gap between people.

His mission is to create a gang, which consists of top thieves to conduct one of the biggest crimes in history.

Their mission is to steal 4 trillion won at the Unified Korea Mint.

While the original series features Raquel Murillo as the police inspector leading the operation, the adaptation showcases Seo Woo Jin (Kim Yoon Jin) as the crisis negotiation team leader under National Police Agency in South Korea. In addition, she is also working with former North Korean special agent Cha Moohyuk, given that the Mint is under two counties.

On the other hand, director Kim Hong Seon previously revealed in a press conference why they had to focus it in a joint setting.

He said that he wanted to showcase North and South Korea on the show and thought that the "Money Heist" adaptation would be perfect for it.

"I wanted to infuse that kind of sense of hope into the show," the director added.

"Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area" part 1 made its debut on June 24 with a total of six episodes for the first part.

The series gained 5.3 ratings on IMDb while a 50 percent audience score and 79 percent tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes.
