THIS ‘Dr Romantic 3’ Star Gives Advice to People Suffering From Same Illness
Shin Dong Wook bravely talked about his journey of recovering from his illness through his latest Instagram post.
The actor had years-long hiatus after suffering from complex regional pain syndrome or CRPS, causing him to leave the mandatory military service early back in 2010.

As mentioned by a media outlet, the actor took to social media and posted a lengthy message as he gave advice to people who are also suffering from the same diagnosis.
Shin Dong Wook began his post by mentioning that a lot of people were asking him how he got better and shared that he "only followed the treatment" of his doctor.
However, the actor pointed out that the recovery is on a case-to-case basis.
"Even if I receive the same treatment, there are individual differences in this disease, so I can't answer what I do to get better."
Shin Dong Wook also revealed his current situation and says that he "can control it" through prescription medicine given by specialists, adding that he has been taking medicines for over 10 years.
"But it is not a complete cure. I have been taking narcotic analgesics and neuropathic pain medicine for 13 years," he said.
Concluding his lengthy message, the 40-year-old actor shared a short piece of advice to his fans and people suffering from the same illness.
"Do not close your mind under any circumstances and trust the treatment of your doctor," he said, adding "Do not avoid pain, accept and adapt to it. Do not depend on anyone and become great yourself."
In the end, Shin Dong Wook gave words of wisdom saying that "there are times when it goes beyond greatness. I believe that you are a great person who can be freed from this disease" and wished everyone a "speedy recovery."
As mentioned, he started his hiatus in 2010 after being discharged from the military due to his illness.

He was diagnosed with a rare condition of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
According to Mayo Clinic, it is an excess and prolonged pain and inflammation that is caused by an injury to an arm or leg.
Signs and symptoms include "continuous burning or throbbing pain, usually in the arm, leg, hand or foot, swelling of the painful area, change in skin temperature and skin color, and more.

Best known for his 2006 dramas "Soulmate" and "Cloud Stairs," Shin dong Wook also appeared in the hit medical K-drama "Dr. Romantic 2" as Doldam Hospital's orthopedic specialist Dr. Bae Moon Jung.
Interestingly, it was also his comeback K-drama and was followed by supporting roles in "My Unfamiliar Family" and "Reflection of You."
After officials announced the return of the "Dr. Romantic" series, Shin Dong Wook joined as one of the cast, reuniting with co-stars Han Seok Kyu, Lee Sung Kyung, Ahn Hyo Seop, and more.
