New year means a new set of K-dramas for viewers this 2023. Interestingly, Netflix is slated to release a slew of highly anticipated sequels. 

Considered by the streaming giant as their "biggest-ever lineup of Korean films and series" here are the much-awaited K-drama sequels returning to Netflix this year. 

'The Uncanny Counter Season 2'

After two years, the beloved demon hunters called Counters are back with a mission to battle against evil spirits. 

Despite the setback due to the scheduling conflicts of its main actors, the production team is reportedly gearing up for "The Uncanny Counter Season 2."

Scheduled to premiere sometime this 2023, the upcoming sequel will air via tvN and Netflix. 

Returning cast includes Cho Byeong Kyu, Yoo Joon Sang, Kim Se Jeong, Yeom Hye Ran, and Ahn Suk Hwan. Interestingly, "All of Us Are Dead" villain Yoo In Soo will join as the new cast member. 

'Squid Game Season 2'

After taking the world by storm in 2021, the death-defying game is back as director Hwang Dong Hyuk tells Vanity Fair that "Squid Game Season 2" will premiere in late 2023, or at least by 2024.

Previously, the director and creator revealed the actors who would reprise their roles. It includes Lee Jung Jae as Seong Gi Hoon and Lee Byung Hun as the Frontman.

Hwang Dong Hyuk also hints that Gong Yoo's mysterious character might also make a comeback. 

'Arthdal Chronicles Season 2'

Joining K-drama sequels returning on Netflix this 2023 is "Arthdal Chronicles Season 2" with new lead stars. 

After Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won confirmed that they will not reprise their roles due to schedule conflicts, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung were announced to play Saya and Tan Ya. 

Meanwhile, viewers will also get to see familiar faces like Jang Dong Gun who will return as Ta Gon as well as Kim Ok Bin as Tae Al Ha. 

As of this writing, officials are yet to confirm the exact release date but it will hit tvN and Netflix this 2023. 

'D.P. Season 2'

Despite a minor setback due to the controversy, the webtoon-based military action series is making a comeback two years after it premiered. 

"D.P. Season 2" cast features the return of Jung Hae In, Goo Kyo Hwan, Kim Sung Kyun, Son Seok Koo, and new characters portrayed by Ji Jin Hee and Kim Ji Hyun. 

The 6 episode sequel will be released sometime this 2023 exclusively on Netflix. 

'Sweet Home Season 2'

By public demand, Netflix's original series returns with an interesting cast lineup and a more intense ride. 

Definitely one of the much-awaited sequels of the year, "Sweet Home Season 2" which plans to premiere this 2023. 

The sequel features a mix of new and returning cast members which includes Song Kang, Lee Jin Wook, Go Min Si, Park Gyu Young, Oh Jung Se, Kim Mi Yeol and Jung Jin Young.
