The 78-year-old actor reached a breakthrough success after playing the role of player 001 named Oh Il Nam in the Netflix series.
With his amazing portrayal of his character, Oh Young Soo captured the hearts of viewers and even made history at the prestigious award-giving body.
He is the first South Korean star who bagged Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series at the Golden Globe Award.
However, amid his fame and continued achievement in his acting career, Oh Il Nam was accused of harassment in the same year that "Squid Game" became a huge hit.
It was after a woman "A" claimed that the veteran star sexually harassed her in 2017, however, the police dismissed her lawsuit which was filed on December 2021.
As mentioned by various outlets, the woman accused Oh Il Nam of making unwanted physical contact during a meeting.
In a report, JTBC cited that the actor denied the accusation stating that only held the woman's hands to "show her the way" as they walked around a lake.
Moreover, Oh Young Soo reportedly apologized to the woman not because he acknowledged the accusation but because she allegedly told the "Squid game" star that she wouldn't make a fuzz or "raise an issue" about the incident if he did.

As for the police, authorities dismissed the case but the woman appealed it to the prosecution.
Now, Oh Young Soo recently faced his first trial on charges of indecent assault; however, the public has negative feelings about the case and sympathizes with the actor.

Since the case was publicized, the public has expressed their thoughts about Oh Young Soo's case online.
The majority wondered why the woman took how many years to file the lawsuit and it was the time that Oh Young Soo's fame skyrocketed because of "Squid Game."
With this, netizens questioned the motif of the accuser even saying that the woman waited until the actor got popular.
One user pointed out that "these types of cases always break out when the 'victim' will benefit something out of the situation.
As for one netizen, someone mentioned that the lawsuit wouldn't get filed if Oh Young Soo didn't get famous.
Oh Young Soo has been in the industry for how many decades since he made his debut as a theater actor.
He usually plays the monk in various K-dramas and movies but was glad that director Hwang Dong Hyuk offered him a different role to play in "Squid Game."
