Director Kim Tae Joon, Kim Hee Won, More Share Never-Before-Told Story About 'Unlocked'

In a YouTube video provided by Netflix, the director and cast members of the famous Korean movie "Unlocked" sat for a media interview and provided some insights and never-before-told stories about the film.

Every script has its own magic that even the actors feel the characters' emotions. Veteran actor Kim Hee Won, who played the role of Woo Ji Man, admitted that he already got emotional while reading the script before the actual filming.

According to him, "I was reading the script with Director Kim and I literally cried while reading it."

In support of what the actor shared, Kim Tae Joon revealed that the scene that made him cry was when Woo Ji Man saw a photo of his dead son, which made his character feel guilty for causing his son's demise.

Kim Hee Won explained that until they concluded the production, he still felt sad about it.

While discussing it, Director Kim joined and recalled that everyone on set tried to hold back their tears when filming the heartbreaking scene.

"When he (Kim Hee Won) held the image of his son on the phone as if it were a person, I remember everyone on set was emotional."

The stars and the staff felt the pain of a father losing his son because of a mistake.

Meanwhile, opposite to their emotions, Im Siwan confessed that it was different from him. Since he played a villain, he had to find things that were funny, interesting, or something that can tease him from his character's perspective.

According to the actor, finding things like that was difficult for him. To immerse himself in the character, he purposely went off to get a coffee and tried hard not to get emotionally involved in the sad scene.

Nevertheless, his hard work paid off and delivered his emotions well. Viewers also lauded his acting in the movie.

This was not the first time Im Siwan played a villain.

In the disaster film "Emergency Declaration," the idol-actor also portrayed as an antagonist, where he even received positive feedback not just from the audience, but also from his co-stars and veteran celebrities Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, and Kim Nam Gil.
