Yoo Ah In to Appear in Court This Week Over Drug Scandal

After being summoned due to his drug charges, Yoo Ah In is scheduled to appear before the police this third week of March. 

The news comes after the award-winning actor is being involved in controversy over illegal substances after the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety noticed the top star's excessive purchases of propofol for nonmedical purposes. 

Yoo Ah In Scheudled for Interrogation on March 24 

Amid the ongoing investigation, authorities scheduled Yoo Ah In to appear to the police on March 24 over allegations of illegal drug use. 

Moreover, the media outlet also revealed that the actor will undergo an interrogation as a criminal suspect at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. 

Since February, the "Seoul Vibe" star is making headlines after he is suspected of using propofol. 

Due to this, authorities launched an investigation and barred the actor from leaving the country until the probe is concluded. 

At the time, his agency United Artists Agency (UAA) mentioned that the top star is "actively cooperating in all investigations."

However, after conducting a urine and hair strand test, it was found that Yoo Ah In tested positive for four types of illegal substances-- propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine. 

Apparently, the "Chicago Typewriter" star has been using propofol since 2021 and has administered l more than 100 times in total, exceeding 4400 ml on 73 occasions in 2021, and around 30 times the following year. 

Besides the tests, the police also had a search and seizure at the actor's residence and found numerous pieces of evidence that are relevant to the drug charges. 

"We searched two places registered as Yoo Ah In's home after obtaining a search and seizure warrant," a police official stated, as obtained by a media outlet.

However, Yoo Ah In is reportedly missing and was last seen at his residence three years ago when he filmed "Home Alone" back in June 2020.

Following the drug scandal, Yoo Ah In faced massive consequences and has affected his career. 

Brands, from food manufacturers to retails, have cut ties with the actor and have removed promotional posters, videos, and advertisements featuring the actor. 

As for his on-screen appearance, Yoo Ah In is set to reprise his role as the cult leader in "Hellbound 2."

Unfortunately, because of the massive controversy, the award-winning star has decided to step down from the role.

Netflix then selected Kim Sung Cheol of "Our Beloved Summer" star to play Yoo Ah In's role as New Truth founder Jung Jin Soo. 

Meanwhile, his airtime in "High Five" will be reduced. 

Adding to the list is being banned from the broadcast network KBS.
