Following the announcement regarding the upcoming K-drama of Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won, a special person close to the actress' heart is thrilled to see the new team-up.

While the two celebrities are in talks to headline the espionage melodrama, titled "Polaris," Jun Ji Hyun's mother-in-law, designer Lee Jung Woo, has an interesting reaction to the possible project.

According to the media outlet, Lee Jung Woo reposted a photo from an entertainment media outlet, announcing the duo's possible on-screen work.

Following this, Jun Ji Hyun's mother-in-law hinted at her seal of approval after she expressed how thrilled she is to see her daughter-in-law and Kang Dong Won in one frame.

"My favorite combination! Finally..." she captioned her post.

On March 28, various outlets cited the possible team-up between the two Hallyu stars after an industry representative shared that they are courted to headline the upcoming K-drama "Polaris."

The news was confirmed by Jun Ji Hyun's agency IEUM HASHTAG, saying that the actress "was offered a role in the drama 'Polaris' and is positively reviewing [the offer]."

The same goes for Kang Dong Won's agency which also announced that the actor was chosen to be part of the series.

"It is one of several projects he has been offered," the agency said.

What to Expect in Kang Dong Won and Jun Ji Hyun's Drama 'Polaris'?

The upcoming series is a spy-romance drama that follows the story of two agents who have lost their identities and try to find themselves again.

"Polaris" will be penned by "The Handmaiden" screenwriter Jung Seo Kyung and helmed by "Crash Landing on You" director Kim Hee Won, who teamed up for the hit K-drama "Little Women."

The new series will be Jun Ji Hyun's comeback to the small screen after the 2021 thriller-mystery K-drama "Jirisan," where she took on the role of veteran rescue mountaineer Seo Yi Kang, who encountered a mysterious incident in Mr. Jirisan, along with Kang Hyun Jo, played by Ju Ji Hoon.

As for Kang Dong Won, "Polaris" will be his K-drama comeback after 19 years.

On the other hand, aside from his back-to-back movies in 2022 (one of which was the Cannes Film Festival scene-stealer "Broker" where he starred alongside Song Kang Ho, IU, Bae Doona, and Lee Joo Young), he will also star in multiple films this 2023.

This includes the crime film "The Incident," "Jeon, Ran" and "Possession."
