Known as the Oscars of South Korea, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards named this year's celebrities who showed exceptional contributions in the entertainment industry.

From rookie actors to top stars and renowned personalities in the field, the organization honored the best of the best in show business.

While "The Glory," "The Night Owl," and "Decision to Leave" took home not just one but multiple awards, one of the highly anticipated awards is the Daesang, or Grand Prize.

It is the ceremony's biggest honor that any actor or actress could receive.

Interestingly, Hyun Bin is the only male actor to bag the title.

Hyun Bin is the only male actor to have won the Daesang at the Baeksang Arts Awards. The Daesang award was given to the top star for his performance in the hit K-drama "Secret Garden," which he starred in 2011 together with Ha Ji Won.

Following Hyun Bin, only selected K-drama actresses hold the title.

Kim Young Ok

Known as "National Grandma" for her roles in K-drama, Kim Young Ok bagged the Daesang award for TV category at the 15th Baeksang Arts Awards.

It was for her performance in "I Sell Happiness" back in 1978. Interestingly the grand prize award was only among the several recognition of the veteran actress.

Now at 85, Kim Young Ok is still active in show business and will be part of the upcoming K-drama "Goodbye Earth."

She is best known for her role as Gong Yoo's grandmother in "Cofee Prince" as well as head court lady Noh Ok Nam in "The King: Eternal Monarch."

Kim Hee Ae

It's no surprise that Kim Hee Ae is among the list of Korean actresses who bagged the grand prize at the prestigious ceremony.

The award winning actress is a three-time Daesang winner at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

First, she bagged the coveted title at the 29th Baeksang Arts Awards for her 1993 series "Sons and Daughters."

11 years later, Kim Hee Ae took home the same recognition and became the 40th Baeksang Arts Awards' Daesang for "Perfect Love."

As for her third, the 56-year-old actress won Daesang at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards for her amazing performance in the hit K-drama "The World of the Married."

Go Doo Shim

Joining the list of Korean actresses who won Daesang titles at the Baeksang Arts Awards is none other than veteran star Go Doo Shim.

Known for her grandmother roles in K-drama, she took home the award in 1993 for her role in "My Husband's Woman," along with a Best Actress award.

Go Hyun Jung

In 2010, Go Hyun Jung made headlines after winning the Grand Prize at the 46th Baeksang Arts Awards for the historical K-drama "Queen Seondeok."

At the time, she was also nominated for Best Actress but failed to secure the award.

Jun Ji Hyun

Following her big break in "My Sassy Girl," all eyes are on Jun Ji Hyun and her exceptional acting range.

In 2014, at the height of the popularity of "My Live from the Stars" with Kim Soo Hyun, Jun Ji Hyun went home with a Daesang at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Park Eun Bin

The recent star who secured the Daesang title is none other than Park Eun Bin.

The actress who played the titular role in the ENA series took the world by storm with her fascinating and entertaining portrayal of Woo Young Woo in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."
