The cast and crew of the upcoming romantic comedy drama "Empathy Cells" gathered for their first script reading, giving a sneak peek of what everyone can expect from the series, premiering next month.

According to Soompi, it is directed by Kim Chil Bong and written by Jung Yeon. The show tells the story of an odd couple, a woman who is lacking empathy and a guy who is totally overloaded with emotions. The two fell in love after a bizarre event that connects their feelings. This requires them to work through their problems and develop through surprising bonds.
Lead actor Kim Myung Soo is cast as Cha Eun Hwan, a top psychological counselor. He totally wowed everyone at the script reading with his performance. Kang Min Ah plays Yoo Ji An, a former girl group member who is now trying her hand at acting.
Opposite him, he balances Eun Hwan's warm and caring nature, with the deep emotional baggage he carries. Myung Soo's act showed that even someone devoted to helping others can't escape their own pain.
Her character lacks empathy, but Kang added warmth and charm to it, making the role more relatable. This should help deepen the show's look into emotional connections and personal growth.

The supporting actors were also fantastic during the reading session. Kwon So Hyun will be Han Yi Jin, and Cha Min Ji will play Cha Song Hwan. Other cast members include Shin Woo Gyeom as Dong Gyeong, Kang Pil Joon as Do Hoon, and Kim Da Hye as Hyun Ji.
Additional supporting roles will be played by Ok Yoon Joong, Jang Sung Won, Kim Yi Hyun, and Park Chae Won.
Production staff praised the cast's commitment and natural chemistry during the session, raising expectations for the drama's blend of romance, comedy, and emotional storytelling.
"Empathy Cells" is scheduled to premiere on July 4 at 10:50 p.m. KST, as per The Chosun Daily, offering the audience a different kind of love story based on empathy, healing and self-discovery.
