Song Joong Ki dishes on the most important milestones in his life this year, which include being invited to the 76th Cannes Film Festival and being a soon-to-be father.

The South Korean top star is booked and busy with back-to-back movies after having his small screen comeback in 2022 with "Reborn Rich."

The 37-year-old actor was among the several Korean celebrities who got invited to the prestigious festival to represent his film "Hopeless." Joining him in France were his co-stars Bibi and Hong Sa Bin.

In a recent interview at the Hôtel Barrière Le Gray d'Albion Cannes, he shared his thoughts about the milestones in his life that are memorable to him.

As obtained by a media outlet, the award-winning South Korean actor illustrated a very positive outlook for 2023.

Song Joong Ki revealed that "a lot of good things are going to happen this year." Among these is being one of the lead stars in "Hopeless" and welcoming him and his wife's bundle of joy.

"I'm really excited about Cannes, but right now I'm focused on the baby being born," he said, adding that he is looking forward to wrap up the events of Cannes Film Festival 2023 to see his wife, Katy Louise Saunders.

To recall, he confirmed his relationship with the British actress in December 2022. Months later, after facing countless pregnancy rumors, the top star announced that he and Katy Louise Saunders were expecting.

As for Song Joong Ki's new movie, he expressed how "grateful" and "happy" he is for such a wonderful and once-in-a lifetime experience.

"I'm maintaining a positive mindset and believing I should live with gratitude," he said, adding, "I've been privileged with some extraordinary news in my life recently, and now, here I am in Cannes."

Moreover, the actor says that the "wave of wonderful things" seemed surreal, but amid this, he is "consciously trying to stay grounded, embracing the excitement" without letting everything overwhelm him.

After filming the movie "Bogotá: City of the Lost" and his K-drama comeback "Reborn Rich," Song Joong Ki accepted the offer to star on "Hopeless," initially titled "Hwaran," despite no pay.

According to a media outlet, the actor believes in the movie's artistic quality and its potential.

Directed and written by Kim Chang Hoon, "Hopeless" is a noir movie that follows the story of a teenage boy named Yeon Gyu, portrayed by Hong Sa Bin. He wants to escape his hellish life and unexpectedly meets Chi Geon, played by Song Joong Ki.

"Hopeless" will have its big screen debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, while officials have yet to announce the screening date in theaters.
