Yoon Hae Joon Goes Back To 1987

"My Perfect Stranger" begins with a series of misfortunes that hinder Yoon Hae Joon (Kim Dong Wook) from driving to his destination.

He gets poured on by the rain, his phone breaks and he even gets stuck inside a tunnel. When he restarts his car, Yoon Hae Joon is dragged back in time in the big year of 1987.

The news anchor is taken to Woojung Village which celebrates its fifth year of being crime-free. However, things get crazy when he sees kids who sniff glue in the mountains.

He then saves the girl who's jumped off the cliff, and even makes it to the local newspaper. Yoon Hae Joon is praised by the townsfolk, who rewarded him with a teaching post in a middle school.

After a month, he's taken back to 2021 and learns that he needs to find the real killer in the 1987 murder case involving Ko Min Su (Lim Jong Yoon).

Baek Yoon Young Meets Yoon Hae Joon

Baek Yoon Young (Jin Ki Joo) is introduced as a cold yet hard-working editor for mega-writer Ko Mi Sook (Ji Hye Won).

She has a troubled relationship with her mother but things drastically change when she finds her mother dead inside their humble home. To top it all off, she's also fired from her job.

Baek Yoon Young wishes that she could turn back time so she can spend more time with her own mother. She also hopes that Baek Hee Seob (Lee Won Jung) isn't her father.

As she walks into the same tunnel Yoon Hae Joon drove through, her eyesight becomes blurry. When she wakes, she bumps into Baek Hee Seob, her father, but only younger.

The editor then realizes that she's in the year 1987. She also meets her mother, Lee Soon Ae (Seo Ji Hye), who's involved in the glue incident that Yoon Hae Joon stopped before.

Yoon Hae Joon and Baek Yoon Young also meet despite the awkwardness of being in the same situation.

An Unknown Crime To Solve

In the present time, many friends and relatives speculate that Yoon Hae Joon is already dead as he'd been missing for a week without anyone knowing.

Unbeknownst to them, the one they're looking for is in the year 1987. He and Baek Yoon Young follow Baek Hee Seob and Lee Soon Ae to a bar.

Thankfully, the former manages to turn things around as he claims to be their teacher when the police catch them.

Yoon Hae Joon then brings Baek Yoon Young to his place to discuss the strange phenomenon that happens between them. However, she doesn't listen to him.

She follows the younger version of her mother, pestering her and her own father. At home, Yoon Hae Joon sees a clue that says the woman is in trouble as well.

Baek Yoon Young then realizes that the book Ko Mi Sook has published was her own mother's diary; a stolen work that catapulted her to popularity.

Who's The Murderer?

At school, Baek Yoon Young tries to find dirt against Ko Mi Sook who threatens her about what she knows. Things become even crazier when she accepts a lift from the other's older brother.

Thankfully, Yoon Hae Joon arrives even before the other could force himself into Baek Yoon Young. It turns out that it was Ko Min Su who was wrongly imprisoned in 2021.

Yoon Hae Joon suspects three culprits who could have been involved in the serial murder including Baek Hee Seob, Yoo Beom Ryong (Joo Yeon Woo) and Ko Min Su.
