Hwang Minhyun Returns! Idol-Actor Reported To Headline New Drama ‘Study Group’

Fans might be seeing idol-actor Hwang Minhyun on the television screen once again as he was cast to star in the brand new series "Study Group."

Earlier this year, he took the Hallyu scene by storm as the handsome mage and loveable second lead in the smash hit drama "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow."

Hwang Minhyun To Headline New Webtoon Drama

Earlier this month, media outlets reported that singer-actor Hwang Minhyun was cast to headline the upcoming webtoon-based series "Study Group."

The artist was offered the role of Yoon Ga Min, a delinquent student who wishes to become intelligent. However, he's only good at wrestling.

Yoon Ga Min then forms a study group at the worst school on earth to achieve his goal of passing his dream college's entrance examination.

On May 24, PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed the reports and released a statement, saying that Hwang Minhyun received an offer to star in the new drama, and is currently positively reviewing the work.

If the Hallyu heartthrob confirms his participation, TVING's "Study Group" will mark his return to the small screen, following the hit drama "Alchemy of Souls" with Lee Jae Wook, Jung So Min and Go Yoon Jung.

Attention is given to Hwang Minhyun's upcoming works who's currently making a name for himself as an actor in the entertainment industry.

'Study Group' Further Details & What We Know So Far

"Study Group" was released on Naver Webtoon in 2019, and it was written by Shin Hyung Wuk and drawn by Ryu Seung Yeon.

It was well-received by the public and gained massive attention during its release. At the moment of this writing, the webtoon has over 22 million views with a 10-star rating, proving its popularity.

As for the forthcoming series, "Study Group" will be helmed by "Miracle: Letters to the President" director Lee Jang Hoon with screenwriter Uhm Seon Ho.
