Bloodhounds Kim Sae Ron

"Bloodhounds" director and screenwriter Jason Kim spoke about Kim Sae Ron's parts in the upcoming series as the cast graced the press conference.

Ahead of the much-awaited release of the webtoon-based series, the cast and director dished on their thoughts and experience filming the K-drama. Joining director Jason Kim at the media briefing are lead stars Woo Do Hwan, Lee Sang Yi, and Park Sung Woong.

Why Did Director Jason Kim Refuse to Edit Out Kim Sae Ron Despite Her Controversy?

After the officials confirmed the cast lineup, viewers expected an interesting team-up between the actors, especially since "Bloodhounds" boasts a mix of up-and-coming stars and veteran actors.

Apart from the trio, award-winning actor Heo Joon Ho of "Escape of Mogadishu" also joined as the drama's lead star, while Kim Sae Ron and rookie actress Jung Da Eun played as supporting roles.

However, at the height of the K-drama's filming, one of the cast members got embroiled in a controversy. Due to this, some of Kim Sae Ron's upcoming projects were affected by the scandal. The actress also withdrew from "Trolley."

"Kim Sae Ron's agency has sent us their intention to have her drop out of the K-Drama alongside their apology," a representative from the production team cited, as obtained by a media outlet.

Despite this, "Bloodhounds" continued to cast Kim Sae Ron and was able to retain her character, Cha Hyeon Joo.

Although Netflix officials previously mentioned that the scandal-ridden actress would "no longer participate" in the series, it was clarified that her screentime would be reduced instead of edited all out.

Due to this, the media asked Director Jason Kim to continue to include the actress in the soon-to-be released K-drama.

At the "Bloodhounds" press conference, the filmmaker revealed that it was to "minimize inconvenience," and considered the effort of the crew since the people behind the series "put in thousands of hours" to deliver the scenes.

Moreover, Director Jason Kim also shared that in order to achieve this, he tried "not to break the story," adding, "I tried to improve the completeness of the plot while minimizing the amount of Kim Sae Ron's air time."

Kim Sae Ron's DIU to Stepping Down in 'Trolley'

Back in May 2022, news broke that Kim Sae Ron was booked for DUI, or driving under the influence, after she crashed into public properties in a street in Cheongdam, Gangnam.

Due to this, several business establishments and residential areas were affected by the incident. After test results showed the level of alcohol in her body, Kim Sae Ron stepped down from "Trolley" and posted a handwritten apology to the public.

On the other hand, viewers are thrilled to witness the amazing team-up of Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi in the upcoming noir-action drama, which will be released on June 9 exclusively on Netflix.
