Netflix Announces ‘Physical: 100’ Season 2 + Hints at ‘More Powerful Quests’

After anticipation, Netflix officially renewed the hit survival-reality competition "Physical: 100" for Season 2.

Following its huge success earlier this year, the streaming giant confirmed that it would be among the next shows returning for another season.

'Physical: 100' Season 2 Will Be Bigger, Says Director

According to Deadline, series director Jang Ho Gi announced the surprising news as he expressed his deep gratitude to local and foreign viewers.

"We are very grateful that Physical: 100 received so much love from fans all across the globe, and we paid attention to all the comments and feedback," he said.

Due to this, the team has decided to continue by releasing season 2.

As part of "Physical: 100" Season 2, the director hinted at what to expect in the upcoming sequel.

"We decided to retain the essence of the show, finding the perfect physique, while introducing fresh elements," he explained, adding that it is their way of "expressing our gratitude to the fans of the show."

Viewers will get to see a bigger set in "Physical: 100" season 2. To recall, the first season featured a space with a size of two soccer fields. As for the upcoming season, the frontrunner hinted at a larger space for "more powerful quests.

Meanwhile, while the previous season showcased notable athletes and individuals, "Physical: 100" season 2 will have "performers who were not able to participate in the previous season."

Lastly, the director promised that the show will return "with an all-new season that's got everything taken up a notch for our global fans."

'Physical: 100' Season 1 Highlights

While K-dramas are a huge craze globally, Netflix introduced a survival-reality competition through "Physical: 100."

The 9-episode show featured 100 participants, which consisted of professional athletes, Olympians, professional bodybuilders, fitness enthusiasts, military personnel, and more.

To win the whopping cash prize of 300 million KRW, or around 235,000 USD, contestants needed to survive a series of grueling quests that would challenge their endurance, agility, strength, balance, and willpower.

Interestingly, among the fan favorites in "Physical: 100" was the legendary Japanese-Korean MMA fighter Yoshihiro "Sexyama" Akiyama, one of the oldest contestants.

In addition, viewers got to see how strong Winter Olympic Gold Medalist Yun Sung Bin is during the season run.

Moreover, professional wrestler Jang Eun Sil proved to everyone how strong and capable women are.

With the success of "Phyiscial: 100" and the controversy it faced during the finale, the show made history by being the first unscripted show to top Netflix's weekly ranking for non-English TV programs.
