"Physical: 100" season 2 producer has addressed controversies surrounding former contestants.

During the press conference for the Netflix show, the show creator and main producer Jang Ho Ki teased viewers with an exciting update for the much awaited season.

Along with season 1 participants wrestler Jang Eun Sil and car dealer Jo Jin Hyeong, PD Jang said they went to a different casting process this time.

Controversies Sparked Changes in 'Physical: 100' Season 2

At the "Physical: 100" season 2 press conference, Jang Ho Ki briefly addressed the issues surrounding the show after some of the contestants got involved in controversies.

Among them is the allegation regarding the winner, crossfitter and snowboarder Woo Jin Young, who requested to stop the competition twice. On the other hand, runner up Jung Hae Min testified, saying the production allowed Jin Young's request.

To prevent this, the showrunner said that they've done countless simulations to make sure that the incident won't happen again in the upcoming season.

"The nature of our show prevents us from doing rehearsals, so knowing in advance what could become a problem is a big challenge," he said, as obtained by a Korean media outlet, adding  "So our solution was to run as many simulations as possible, check each part of the equipment, and prevent problems."

Besides a run through with the quests and game challenges, Jang Ho Ki shared that they also had a different casting process this time.

According to him, the official contestants will have to undergo therapy sessions and background checks. This is also what they think is the best way for the contestant not to feel that they are "infringing" on their human rights.

"Since the number of people who participate is 100, a lot of work goes into [the selection]. If we forcefully investigate contestants or investigate them beyond the boundaries of the law, that could be another problem," he explained.

What to Expect in 'Physical: 100' Season 2?

Interestingly, these are not only the changes that will happen in "Physical: 100" season 2.

The show's PD also hints that the upcoming season will have a more modern approach as compared to the previous one, which focuses on ancient Greek times.

"For the second season, we updated it to more modern times and thought of underground mines between the 1950s and the 1960s, PD Jang said, explaining where they got the inspiration for the new sequel.

In addition, viewers will also get to see a bigger arena and more quests than in the first season.

As of this writing, Netflix has yet to announce the target release date of "Physical: 100" season 2.
