'Vigilante' To Be Screened at 28th Busan International Film Festival

On August 24, a news outlet delivered good news to K-drama fans as Nam Joo Hyuk's upcoming series "Vigilante" will be screened in the 28th Busan International Film Festival before it hits the small screens in the second half of 2023.

According to the report, the crime drama is officially invited to the "On Screen" section, which will be held on October 4. It is a newly-established category in 2021, and it is also Asia's first official OTT section and represents the latest series that are about to premiere soon.

"Vigilante" is Disney Plus Korea's soon-to-be released series that will unveil the story of a model police student who defends the law during the day.

The main protagonist, Kim Ji Yong, lives as Vigilante, who directly judges criminals who escaped the law.

What We Know So Far About 'Vigilante'

This action-thriller series is drawing attention not just from media and fans in Korea but also abroad, making it one of the anticipated K-dramas in the second half of 2023.

Based on the famous Naver webtoon penned by Kim Kyu Sam, this masterpiece accumulated 370 million global views. Due to its intriguing storyline, the work stimulates curiosity from the production stages to how the actors will give life to their respective characters.

Choi Jung Yeol, the director of the series has shown delicate and lively production through his past works, such as "Start-Up" and "Glory Day." He joined forces with judge-turned-writer Moon Yoo Seok, who was the brilliant mind behind the hit dramas "The Devil Judge" and "Miss Hammurabi."

In addition, Nam Joo Hyuk, who is currently serving in the military will meet the viewers again through this work. He has always shown new acting with captivating characters from his projects "Twenty Five, Twenty One," "Josè," "Start-Up," "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo," and "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo."

As he portrays Kim Ji Yong in "Vigilante," Nam Joo Hyuk increases the viewers' excitement as he is heralding a strong acting transformation in his next drama. Joining him in the project are Yoo Ji Tae, Lee Joon Hyuk, and Kim So Jin.
