Park Bo Young Takes Home Popularity Award

On November 24, the 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards honored the greatest achievements in television, with Kim Hye Soo and Yoo Yeon Seok returning as hosts.

Many stars shined at the prestigious awards ceremony including Park Bo Young who took home the Popular Star Award for her unrivaled performance in "Concrete Utopia."

In the film, the actress transformed into a nurse who suffers from her own psychological warfare as people resort to chaos in the aftermath of a great earthquake that devastated the whole nation.

Park Bo Young, who showed her mature and improved acting, didn't go unrecognized and was hailed as the most popular actress of the year.

"It really feels great to receive the Popularity Award. I'm very honored," Park Bo Young said, expressing her gratitude. "Thank you to everyone who believed in me. I will return with more amazing works."

Veterans Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki and Kim Seon Ho also bagged the Popularity Award in the male category. Meanwhile, "Concrete Utopia" also claimed two awards including Best Director (Uhm Tae Hwa) and Best Actor (Lee Byung Hun).

Park Bo Young Takes On New Acting Challenge

Opposite to her popular characters, Park Bo Young challenged herself as she took on the role of Jung Da Eun in Netflix's "Daily Dose of Sunshine."

The actress played a nurse at the psychiatric ward, and took viewers into the world of mental health filled with stories of beautiful people suffering from various illnesses.

Park Bo Young came out of her comfort zone and actually seeked advice from real-life nurses in order to fulfill her role as a psychiatric nurse without prejudice in her heart.

On the other hand, the Netflix show was lauded for its unbiased portrayal of different mental disorders like depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and more.

The 12-parter series even topped the global charts in the non-English categories in more than 70 countries like the Philippines, Brazil, Vietnam and more, proving its success and popularity.
