"Queen of Tears" Episode 1 unveiled the marriage between an influential woman, Hong Hae In, and an ordinary employee, Baek Hyun Woo. Their union was dubbed as the "wedding of the century." As they belong to two different worlds, the duo can't overcome their differences until a big crisis brings them together.

The episode started with a glimpse of Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In's beautiful romance. The two were doing in an interview where they talked about their life together.
Despite being married, they shared different stories about how their journey began, which left different impressions.

Amid their good image as a couple, Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In live a completely different life. Hyun Woo leads the legal team and is treated as a worker for the family, tending in all their legal issues. They sleep in separate rooms and lead separate lives, despite living in the same house.

Living with his in-laws feels suffocating and uncomfortable, especially when Hong Hae In does not take his side in front of everyone. As the story progressed, Hyun Woo wanted to divorce his wife but feared her and her family's reactions.
When he could no longer hide it, he announced it to his family. They were shocked, his sister and brother-in-law tried to convince him not to pursue it, but he was very determined to push it due to the selfishness of his family members.
As he approached Hong Hae In with the divorce papers, she revealed that she was dying and had only three months to live. Shocked by the news, he hid the documents and changed his intentions. He apologized for his behavior and promised to treat her better.
