Nagano Mei, one of Japan's most beloved actresses, is currently embroiled in controversy following allegations of romantic involvement with two actors, including married star Kei Tanaka.

The scandal emerged after the tabloid Bunshun published photographs last week showing Nagano in close proximity to Tanaka, who has a wife and children.

Meanwhile, some reports say that she has been spending private time with Kim Moo-joon, a South Korean actor who starred together with her in the drama "Caster."
Nagano did not make a public statement in response until the late night hours of April 28, several days later.
Offering a brief apology, she stated, "Regarding the recent controversy, I understand many of my supporters must be concerned. I am truly sorry. However, this is all a misunderstanding. I've deeply reflected on how my carelessness has caused distress to many. From now on, I'll be more cautious in how I interact with male colleagues."

Despite her apology, many criticized Nagano for not directly addressing the allegations with either Tanaka or Moo-joon.

Public opinion is skeptical, particularly with the photographic evidence already leaked.

Both Nagano's management agency and the actors have maintained that no inappropriate relationships occurred, with Moo-joon adding that his visit to Nagano's home was in the company of her family and mutual friends.

Amid the scandal, repercussions have begun to manifest.
According to reports, Nagano's screen time in "Caster" will be cut, and this backlash is expected to affect her career.

Her image as an "ideal girlfriend" and a "clean image" actress, which has been established for a long time, has now entered the most significant test.
