The family of late South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron is under increased public scrutiny after revelations about a disputed rental deposit and ongoing legal battles have raised questions about their involvement during her final days.

According to recent reports, Kim Sae Ron's biological father contacted her landlord on Feb. 18, one day after her funeral, requesting the return of a 50 million won (approximately $35,700) rental deposit.
However, the landlord clarified that the deposit was not paid by Kim but by an executive from an education company, identified only as Mr. A, who had assisted her financially.
Mr. A is said to have paid two deposits for two apartments that Kim lived in 2023. One other friend, a singer B, also assisted with one of the deposits.
Another friend, a singer known as B, also helped with one of the deposits.
Both elected to make payments directly, rather than lend money to Kim, who was experiencing money problems but kept up with her rent by working a part-time job.
Despite her struggles, Kim's former agency, Gold Medalist, has dismissed family claims that debt collection pressures led to her distress.

According to the records, the agency had considered the debt irrecoverable and had taken no steps to seek repayment beyond procedural notices.
Additional controversy surrounds allegations connecting actor Kim Soo Hyun to Kim Sae Ron.

Investigations revealed inconsistencies in claims about their relationship, with evidence showing both dated other people from 2016 to 2019 and no proof that she worked behind the scenes at Gold Medalist.
The public has criticized Kim Sae Ron's family, wondering whether they were unaware of the situation or whether there are any underlying intentions after her death.

There are also comments on social media indicating disbelief in whether the family knows about her life and what she accused Kim Soo Hyun of doing.
Kim Sae Ron's family is currently involved in ongoing legal disputes related to these matters, including lawsuits involving Kim Soo Hyun.
