On June 2, Brazil's largest private television network, Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT), announced that it would broadcast "My Love from the Star" as part of its new "Asian Production Line" programming slot.

The 2013 fantasy romance drama is the inaugural selection for the initiative, designed to meet the growing demand for Korean content in the region.

"The demand for Korean pop culture content in Brazil has been skyrocketing," SBT said in a statement. "We've created a dedicated 'Asian Production Line' time slot."

Following the announcement, fans of Kim Soo-hyun flooded SBT's official website and social media platforms with messages of support, while fan-made promotional materials began circulating online.

The resurgence of the drama has also spread to other regions, with Taiwan's Korea Entertainment TV recently opting to re-air the series.

The renewed interest comes as Kim continues to face public backlash over a recent controversy.

Allegations surfaced that the actor had been in a romantic relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron during their minor years.

Kim initially denied the reports, but later clarified at a press conference.

"We dated after becoming adults," Kim said, addressing the timeline. "I made a choice as the star Kim Soo-hyun," he added, explaining the reason for his initial denial.

The controversy has led to a series of legal disputes, including lawsuits seeking the return of approximately 5.8 billion KRW (USD 4.2 million) in modeling fees and associated damages.

Despite negative reviews, My Love from the Star continues to mesmerize the global audience.

The SBSSBS drama, which premiered in December 2013 and ended in February 2014, tells the story of the romance between Do Min-Joon (Kim) - an alien who crash-landed on Earth during the Joseon era - and Cheon Song-Yi (Jun Ji-Hyun), a top Korean actress.

The show achieved a peak viewership rating of 28.1% in South Korea and played a significant role in the global rise of K-drama popularity.

As international broadcasters revive interest in the decade-old series, industry observers are watching closely to see whether Kim Soo-hyun can translate this global momentum into a full-fledged overseas comeback.
