A South Korean court has approved a provisional seizure of actor Kim Soo Hyun's luxury real estate in Seoul following a legal request from cosmetic medical device company CLASSYS, which alleges a breach of advertising contract, his legal team confirmed Wednesday.

On June 12, Bang Sung Hoon of LKB & Partners, representing Kim Soo Hyun, said in a statement, "It's true that one property owned by Kim Soo Hyun at Galleria Forêt was recently seized by the court."

However, the actor's legal representative contested the move, claiming the seizure is "unfair" and stems from actions by a third party, the YouTube channel operator HOVERLAB, not Kim himself.

"Kim Soo Hyun is a victim of HOVERLAB," Bang said. "Although the issues lie with the assailants, the arrows are being pointed toward the victim simply because contractual obligations were not met."

CLASSYS alleges that Kim's side failed to deliver on promotional obligations due to reputational issues arising from defamatory claims made on the controversial YouTube channel "HoverLab (Garo Sero Institute)."

As a result, CLASSYS filed for the temporary seizure of real estate assets reportedly worth 3 billion KRW (approximately $2.2 million USD).

"From the perspective of the advertiser, they paid a model but cannot use the model for advertisement purposes, resulting in financial losses. This is undeniable," said Bang.

"But who triggered this situation? It was HOVERLAB. If we can prove through the court proceedings that HOVERLAB made false claims, then Kim Soo Hyun's reputation will be restored and the advertisers will no longer have reason to pursue compensation for damages."

Kim Soo Hyun reportedly owns two additional properties at the Galleria Forêt complex, a high-end residential building in Seoul's Seongsu-dong district.

In a related move, the court also approved a separate provisional seizure request filed by Kim's agency against Kim Se-eui, the operator of the HOVERLAB channel.

That action is part of a broader defamation suit seeking 12 billion KRW (approximately $8.8 million USD) in damages.

Kim Soo Hyun, one of Korea's highest-paid and most recognizable actors, recently starred in the TV series Queen of Tears.

His agency has not released further comments regarding the ongoing proceedings.
