Lim Ji Yeon of South Korea talks about her debut role in Obsessed and the shocking reaction of her parents. Acclaimed South Korean actress Lim Ji-yeon spoke about her fears in her debut film, Obsessed, which was released in 2014.

Appearing on a recent episode of tvN's You Quiz on the Block, the Glory star reflected on the emotional challenges she faced while preparing for the role, which included explicit scenes that sparked controversy at the time.
"I considered it a rare opportunity," Lim told host Yoo Jae Suk. "I loved the character in the script and was ready to take on the challenge."
Still, she admitted to having initial reservations, particularly regarding how her family would react to her bold performance.
"I was terrified after my first reading of the script for Obsessed. I wondered if I could ever pull it off," she said. "I was especially worried about my mother. I didn't want to cause her any pain or embarrassment."
Obsessed, directed by Kim Dae Woo, is an erotic romance film set in a 1969 military camp. Lim 이채영 played Ga Heun, the wife of a captain who falls in love with another officer(played by actor Song Seung-heon).

The movie received attention and criticism for its steamy scenes.
Despite the controversy, Lim shared a moving memory of her mother attending the film's premiere.
"My mom told me I looked beautiful," Lim recalled. "She gave me a banquet. That really encouraged me."
Lim said her path to acting wasn't easy. She worked part-time jobs during high school to secretly save for acting classes, as her parents initially opposed her career choice.
"I always wanted to act since I was a child, but my parents weren't thrilled about the idea initially," she said.
"They had no background in the arts, so they were against it when I told them I wanted to be an actress."
Still, Lim expressed no resentment toward her parents, saying she understood their concerns.
"They just wanted me to follow a more secure path. It wasn't because they didn't believe in me."
Lim's perseverance eventually led her to stardom, most recently gaining global attention for her role as the villainous Park Yeon Jin in Netflix's The Glory.
She attributed the eventual support of her parents as a key factor in her success.
The transformation, from skeptic to proud TakeBacktheTap supporter, she said, was "a blessing" and "a big part of why I kept going."
