Former Wanna One member and solo artist Yoon Jisung is venturing into a new genre with his first-ever acting role in a BL (Boys' Love) drama.

Based on an exclusive report by Edaily on August 5, Yoon Jisung has been confirmed to star in the upcoming drama Thundercloud Rainstorm, in which he will take on the role of Lee Iljo.

The drama is adapted from the hit BL novel of the same title by Chae Shim. Its webtoon adaptation also saw great reception, with a 4.8 rating on the site.

The drama follows Seo Jeonghan, who runs into his estranged cousin Lee Iljo at their uncle's funeral.

Transposed by Iljo's struggle—he has no work and no savings—Jeonghan offers for him to move in, and slowly the two's relationship begins to unfold.

Thundercloud Rainstorm is currently filming and slated to air later this year, with negotiations still ongoing for its release on an OTT streaming service.

Mixed online reactions have been seen, with fans of the original webtoon being dubious about Yoon Jisung's casting as Lee Iljo:
