Award-winning actor Choi Min-sik has stunned fans with a dramatic physical makeover, losing great weight prior to his appearance in the new Korean remake of 'The Intern.'

On September 9, a notice titled "Choi Min-sik scheduled to film the movie The Intern" appeared in an online forum, with photos claimed to be taken on set.
In the photos, Choi looks considerably thinner, his angular features standing out as he looks out to the distance.

"He looks like De Niro," a netizen remarked, alluding to Robert De Niro's character in the initial 2015 American rendition of The Intern. Another wrote, "He lost a lot of weight... he looks like a professor now"
Some fans compared him to his more muscular look in Disney+'s Casino, as well as his guesting in tvN's You Quiz on the Block and appearance in The Boy in the Last Row.
For all the recent appearances, including a photo posted by fellow actor Heo Jun-ho recently, Choi's leaner physique has been the buzz.
Fans admired his commitment. "He's perfect for the role of The Intern," posted one user. "I can feel the actor's sense of responsibility." Another added, "As expected of a great actor. He's even sharper now."
Some were curious about his regimen, asking, "Where's Min-sik's belly? What diet did he do?"
Choi Min-sik will play the lead in The Intern, a remake of the American comedy-drama that featured De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
The Korean remake will follow such themes of aging, identity, and rebirth as presented in the original, with Choi acting as a retired individual returning to the job market. Actress Han So-hee plays the female lead.
Industry insiders suggest Choi's transformation reflects more than just physical preparation—it's part of his deep commitment to the craft.
"He was cool when he was like a teddy bear," one user said, "but he's even cooler now."
As anticipation builds for the release, Choi Min-sik's unexpected transformation is raising expectations for yet another powerful performance.
