South Korean actress Nam Bo-ra has finally spoken out on long-standing gossip about her big family, dispelling misimpressions directly about her 13 siblings in a recent appearance on the MBN variety show Songpul Show Dongchimi, broadcast on Sept. 20.

Nam, the eldest among her siblings, recounted her experience of constantly facing speculations.
"When I say I have 13 siblings, the first question I hear is 'How many mothers do you have?'" she said, remembering what kind of questions she usually gets. "I even hear a lot of 'do you have twins?'"
She swore up and down that the rumors were false. "But there is only one mother, and there are no twins," Nam explained.
"The first and youngest are 21 years apart. The youngest was born when I entered university. I calculate my age with that," she further added.

Nam also explained how she managed to deal with public criticism. "There were rumors that there were many mothers because there were many brothers and sisters," she explained. "Now I laugh it off, but I was embarrassed at the time."
The show also included footage from Nam Bo-ra's wedding in May. The wedding made news for featuring her entire family of 13 siblings, who all came together to mark the occasion.
The big family situation made an impression on studio viewers and hosts.
"Even when I go on a family trip, there are few places that fit our number of people," Nam explained.
"In the end, you have to search for a company workshop pension to find a suitable space," she said with a chuckle.
Regardless of her new marriage, Nam is still busy with the entertainment scene. She remains active in variety shows, drama, and online content through her YouTube channel.
Her honest comments on the program provided some idea of what it's like to be the eldest daughter in a phenomenally large family—a rarity in today's South Korean society, where birthrates remain low.
