Actress Hwang Seok-jeong Opens Up About Debt Struggles Despite Running a Large Farm

Actress Hwang Seok-jeong revealed her continued financial hardships, confessing that she still repays a huge debt in addition to running a large farm.

She made the confession on the October 13 airing of the KBS 2TV variety show "Let's Live Together" with Park Won-sook.

The actress related to how her monthly financial burdens had become a huge part of her life when her host asked about her savings during the episode. She explained that she was paying off debt.

According to XportsNews, Hwang explained that she tends to measure her daily existence based on her trips to the bank, joking that it has become her primary "indicator." When Park asked her how much she owed, Hwang stunned everyone with her candid answer.

Hwang unveiled, "It's 5 million won a month." The amount, the equivalent of about $3,600 USD, is the interest alone on her loans. Her admission surprised fellow cast mates Hye-eun and Hong Jin-hee, who seemed visibly stunned, and left them making light-hearted comments.

"They joked, 'She's crazy. She's not someone you should get close t,'" the source said .

Times of India reported that Hwang went on to say that her debt is partially connected to her flower cultivation business, which covers more than 1,000 pyeong (approximately 3,300 square meters).

The actress commented that the loan was obtained through government aid programs for agricultural buildings.

She revealed, "That includes paying off the government loan for farming facilities. I don't know how I've been doing it either. I'm just happy to have the money to pay the interest next month."

Regarding worries about possible financial stress, Hwang was optimistic, assuring her fellow actors that she will remain positive.

She told her, "Don't pay if you can't. It'll be a big deal. I think things will get sorted out from now on, so don't worry.."
