The actress portrayed the previous day of the tragedy as absolutely normal, stating that her son was healthy, lively, and full of energy. The following morning, Simon caught a fever. Thinking it was nothing serious, Park gave him fever-reducing medication.

According to Chosun Biz, she remembered how his fever went down initially but came back the next morning, so she took him to a local pediatrician.

At the clinic, she witnessed a long queue of waiting patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Simon started crying unexpectedly," she described. Having decided not to wait, Park brought him to the hospital instead.

While on the way there with her neighbors in the car, she said her son suddenly stiffened and went limp in her arms.

Park emotionally recounted the terrifying moment she came to understand her son could have died. "I don't even remember how I got to the hospital. When we arrived at the emergency room, I called my husband and my mother. I said, 'Mom, I think Simon is dead. He's not waking up.'"

Park Yo Han, remembering that horrific instant, indicated he was getting ready for a game when he got the heartbreaking phone call. "Then she said Simon wasn't breathing and that he might be dead. I couldn't believe it," he explained.

Even with the efforts of the doctors, Simon was in cardiac arrest for 40 minutes. His heart began beating once more, but there was no activity in his brain. "I think Simon's heart started beating again just so he could give his mom and dad a little more time with him," Park said, crying.

The tearful tale of Park Bo Mi and her family keeps people touched, not only pointing to the unimaginable sorrow of losing a child but also to the indestructible power of a mother's love.
