Actor Nam Da-reum's mother spoke out for the first time since renewed accusations surfaced stating that she was in charge of the 23-year-old actor's social media on his behalf.

She provided clarification through a message that was uploaded to her personal account on November 30. The issue resurfaced after negative reactions began circulating online, according to reporting by OSEN.

In her post, Nam Da-reum's mother explained the background of the account's creation. After a neutral introduction, she wrote, "It seems like there's a lot of talk about this account again. There are even embarrassing comments and DMs being posted."

She explained that this account was originally created for her personal use, long before her son came of age or had a huge following.

Per Chosun Biz, she said: "To clear up some of the unfair misunderstandings, this account, which has been around for about 10 years, started out as just my personal space." She added that the account had taken on a different shape with time as fans started to follow it.

She said that she changed her username as impersonation accounts of her son began to appear. Her next utterance was prefaced with a brief neutral sentence: "As several more Namdarum impersonation accounts were created, the user name was changed to 'Namdarum Mom' and the account was used as an account to deliver news and record activities."

She also was quick to dispel the rumor that she manages Nam Da-reum's social media. She explained, "Even after becoming an adult, Darum didn't have much interest in social media, so he didn't create a personal account."

She added that she has considered changing the username to avoid misunderstandings; however, this has not been easy with the huge following. She wrote, ""If anyone knows where I can find Instagram support, please let me know^^."

She further emphasized that her son is not being barred from using social media. Her next line came after a neutral introduction: "We're not forcing anyone to use social media, but we also don't want to force them to use it. I think it's best for them to start when they want to."

Nam Da-reum said she currently communicates with fans by leaving written messages on the Daum café Dareumholic. She finished her writing by saying she wants to change her username if she could: "However, if I could change my username, I would also like to erase the word 'mom.'"
