Fans in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, have called for a boycott of K-Dramas and other Korean cultural products after fights with South Korean netizens. Some Korean fans brought professional cameras to a K-Pop concert in the area, which broke the rules of the venue. This upset local fans, and the online fight began.

A fan from Indonesia complained on social media, saying, "Korean hatred for sea will never not be ridiculous lmao like damn I wonder why seasians have a negative perception of Korea... I wonder what Korea has done in sea to possibly stir those feelings....!!!!"
Another fan pointed out how quickly things got worse: "This whole SEA vs Korean thing 😭😭 everyone was laughing and against Koreans until it involved their fav K-pop idol and now microaggressions suddenly don't exist and Koreans aren't racist anymore just wrap this whole thing up."
Meanwhile, some users expressed concern over the growing hostility, with one adding, "I don't like seeing Koreans and SEA fighting. It's getting out of hand."

Because of this, people started posting on social media asking for a coordinated boycott. One tweet said, "Yo guys, I know we all love k-pop, k-drama (me too at times). Y not we boycott their industry until they issue an apology. They rely heavily on us, we hit them where it hurts."
People in South Korea were skeptical and sarcastic. One person said, You watch them illegally, so a boycott doesn't really matter," while another added, "Thinking this is a big boycott lol. They didn't make this for you anyway, and you're watching illegally. Not watching is helping. Thanks for the boycott, and don't come to Korea or pay attention to it."
Some Korean users also talked about money, saying things like, "I'll boycott!! "Don't consume!" (Watching Korean dramas illegally) "Korean products are too expensive anyway."
These answers show that the boycott trend has gotten more attention, but it's still not clear how it will affect K-Drama viewership in the real world.
