After more attention was brought to past sexual misconduct claims, actor Oh Dal Soo has spoken publicly for the first time in a month. In an exclusive interview in Busan, the actor, who recently played Sea Captain Park in Season 2 of Squid Game, talked about the controversy.

Oh was already involved in South Korea's #MeToo movement in 2018. An actress accused him of sexual harassment at the time. Later, JTBC's "Newsroom" reported more claims. At first, he denied the charges, but later he admitted to sexual harassment and said he was sorry. Because the events in question happened in the 1990s, the statute of limitations meant that his case could not be formally investigated.
Koreaboo says that Oh explained why he stayed out of the public eye after being named. In the interview with Edaily that the outlet talked about, he said, "I believe that, regardless of the situation, it is right to present a clear, accurate, and prompt position. However, when I suddenly became the subject of the Me Too movement, it was very confusing. I was afraid that even a single word spoken carelessly might be reported prematurely."

He went on to talk to the women who had accused him. He said, "I would like to once again apologize to the two women. However, I am not a rapist or a sexual offender. I have not lived that way. If there were women who were hurt in relationships with me during my immature twenties, I want to apologize for that alone and reproach my younger self. But I cannot accept living my entire life labeled a 'rapist' based on the words of those two individuals."
Hansbiz also wrote about Oh's comments, focusing on his views on mutual consent and his rejection of the sexual assault label. In the same interview, Oh said, "I believe that when a man and a woman engage in a sexual relationship, their intentions may not always completely align. The greater that difference is, the more it can be considered sexual assault. If a woman who was in a relationship with me remembers that experience as painful, then I believe it is right to apologize first, without hesitation."
Oh said again that he doesn't think of himself as a sexual offender, but he thought it was right to apologize if any of his ex-partners were hurt emotionally. He also said that he couldn't admit to committing sexual assault at the same time.
After admitting to the crime in 2018, Oh stopped working for several years and lived on Geoje Island, where he farmed before slowly returning to work.
