Despite what the tabloids may say about Taylor Swift, her best friend and "Modern Family" actress Sarah Hyland considers the singer to be awesome.
On the red carpet last Sunday at the Golden Globes, Hyland told PEOPLE that Swift has the most authentic personality.
"She's just the most down-to-earth person," said the 23-year-old thespian. "She just seems like a really true friend, and it's just really great to meet people in this industry [like her]."
Due to the public judging Swift because of how the media depicts her, Hyland wanted to set the record straight.
"A lot of people I've met have a preconceived idea [about her], at least from tabloids, but she's one of the most amazing people I've ever met," said the "Trouble" singer's best friend.
Although Hyland gives Swift her praises, there is a possibility that she read into what the tabloids had to say about Harry Styles' ex before actually knowing her.
"I won't comment on that," said Hyland when asked if she believed what the media had to say about Swift before meeting her.
Whatever the case might have been in the past, Hyland and Swift are currently putting their friendship on display for the world to see. During the Warner Bros. & InStyle's annual post-Golden Globes party the besties got their boogie on. PEOPLE Instagram even posted a Kodak moment of Swift attempting a selfie while Hyland photobombed it.
The two were also together on New Year's and Hyland posted a picture of them to prove it with the caption, "New Years with the best of the best @taylorswift. I look scared… I think I should be."
