In "You Who Came From The Stars," Jun Ji Hyun plays Chun Song Yi, an actress who because of a downturn in her career takes on her first action role in a movie. In the scene she must jump from on high and hang suspended in the air. Viewers suspect the wires have been tampered with, meaning that her character's freefall may require a life-saving intervention by co-star Kim Soo Hyun. To make the scene more realistic Jun Ji Hyun is doing her own stunts.

It's not the first time the actress has attempted action stunts, especially stunts involving wires. In her film 'The Thieves, she got wired up.

"To portray a rope-expert, I did some conditioning and trained in jumping from heights," said Jun Ji Hyun of her work in "The Thieves." "I gained precious experience in that film."

Her efforts won praise from her film co-star Angelica Lee.

"Jun Ji Hyun was especially impressive in the film," said Lee. "She didn't hesitate to act in the big action scenes."

While taking part in the spy action drama "The Berlin File," Jun Ji Hyun sustained an injury while acting out an acting scene. The actress was hit in the face with an empty bullet shell and the shards penetrated her skin.

"There were some really intense scenes in the film and despite her injury, Jun Ji Hyun just kept on filming after getting the fragments removed," said a representative from the film's production company.

In "The Berlin File" she had to pretend to be clumsy, so she did not get to do any action scenes.

"I was sad that I couldn't show off my action skills as much as I wanted," said Jun Ji Hyun.

"Jun has shot so many action films that she's a pro at it now," said Ryu Sung Wan, director of "The Berlin File." "She's especially good with wires which was one reason why she was chosen for  'The Thieves. I want to call her 'Action Ji Hyun.'"

So, it's no surprise that Action Ji Hyun wanted to do the wire scene in "You Who Came From The Stars."

Her portrayal of the self-absorbed actress is one of the reasons for the drama's success. The last episode ranked 26.4 percent of the viewers for the last episodes. Some of the wire scene was shown in the 13th episode on Jan. 29. The wire action scene will resume in the next episode shown this week.
