Famous Irish band U2 are revving up for their major comeback in the touring circuit as it was confirmed that they are among the first guests to perform on Jimmy Fallon's debut episode as the host of The Tonight Show.

The band are keeping mum about details of their new album to be released this year but are rumored to be premiering new songs on the said show - which is currently hosted by Jay Leno - this February 17.

Jonathan Cohenm, show booker of the Tonight Show, cannot contain his excitement and tweeted the following: "Thrilled that U2 will be the first musical guest on the new Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Premiering Feb.17."

The Bono-fronted band who has been in hiatus for three years recently played their first gig in Beverly Hills for a Haiti benefit concert. Their Super Bowl XLVIII also confirmed U2's comeback with announcement of their new single "Invisible."

The "With or Without You" power quartet is also on the Oscar list for their song "Ordinary Love" from the film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. The same hit recently swept the award for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes.

Meanwhile, ex-manager Paul McGuinness has finally opened up why he left the band after managing the band for 34 years. In an interview with Billboard, Paul said: "I'm 62, and I did not feel like doing the next tour. As you have observed, I've been to pretty well every show U2 have ever performed, and I just did not want to continue doing that into my 60s."

U2 recently signed a new management contract with Live Nation and Guy Oseary, Madonna's manager.

After not commenting on rumors about a probable rift with McGuiness, they issued an official statement on their website to clear the air: "Paul has saved us from ourselves many times over and we would not be U2 without him."

"Sometime soon, U2 will begin a new adventure around the world and we totally understand and respect Paul's desire to not run away with the circus - AGAIN (sic)," they concluded.
