Pharrell Williams To Sing 'Happy' At The Oscars: The 'Blurred Lines' Singer Confirmed To Perform 'Despicable Me 2' Anthem

Pharrell Williams will be adding to his list of Grammys achievements at the Oscars where he is confirmed to perform "Happy."

The "Despicable Me 2" anthem, written and produced by Williams, is nominated for Best Original Song alongside "Original Love" (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), "Let It Go" (Frozen) and "The Moon Song" (Her).

Williams, one of the most successful producers and musicians in Hollywood, truly knows how to entertain. The forever-young rapper released a video for "Happy" last November which ran for 24 hours, featuring stars including Steve Martin, Steve Carell and Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, just to name a few.

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron made sure to feature full performances of two of the nominated songs with a condensed version of a third at last year's Oscars, raising hopes that full performances will be done this year as well.

Once the Academy announced that it would be staging a special Oscar-week concert for the nominated scores and songs, speculation occurred that the songs would be moved entirely from this year's show. News of Pharrell's performance as well as those of Idina Menzel and Karen O has brought some relief.

The acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer will be the third rapper to receive an Oscar after Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (8 Mile) and Three Six Mafia's "It's Hard Out here for a Pimp" (Hustle & Flow). Williams has yet to disappoint us with hits such as "Blurred Lines" which he co-wrote and produced and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky."

His performance is one that will highly be anticipated. The Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air on Sunday, March 2nd on ABC.
