George Clooney's The Monument's Men Movie Delayed Due To 'Gravity' Star's Struggles Despite Exclusive Cast: Will It Deliver At The Box Office?

George Clooney's new movie, "The Monument's Men," is set to release this Friday, February 7th.

The World War II drama has an undeniably successful A-List cast that also happens to be buddies with the "Gravity" star. The cast includes Clooney himself, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin, John Goodman and most importantly, Nick Clooney, George's father.

Although we're eager and ready to see what the acclaimed actor has in store for us, there's no denying there have been struggles along the way, despite the noteworthy cast.
The movie was due for a finished cut by mid-November of 2013, a deadline that the actor and producing partner Grant Heslov had to push back.

Clooney had mentioned in an interview with The Wrap in 2013 that, "It's been a bit of a dance. We're trying to do the movie in the vein of war films, but you don't want it to sound like 'The Great Escape.' Those movies that were done in the '50s and '60s, they all had their own sort of life. You don't want to do a replica, you have to do a new version."

The struggle with the tone of the movie, the balance of the comedic elements and the serious subject matter of the Nazi's theft of Europe's most valuable art, has been the stated cause of delay. However, the star had also told the Los Angeles Times that visual effect work was the reason that the film could not be completed by its planned date.

An insider close to the movie has stated that the difficulty of the tone was the more serious issue. The source has stated, "The movie isn't ready. It's not where it needs to be."

Will both the cast and tone deliver at the box office?
